Mt. Carmel Dam Recreation
The Mt.Carmel Dam was built to provide water for recreation, fish, habitat, runoff control and a water supply
water supply for the city of Langdon. It is located on the east edge of West Hope Township on the south fork of
the Little Pembina River.
In 1964, selecting the suitable sight began and by 1968 the design was in progress. Construction work began in
June of 1970 and was completed by June of 1971.
The 322 acre lake provides many recreation activities that include: fishing, boating and water skiing. Picknicking
and camping is also enjoyed by many from North Dakota and Canada.
It is located 9 miles North, 2 miles East, 2 miles North and 1 mile East of Langdon.

Camping Fees
Electrical: $15.00 a day or $75.00 Weekly
Non-electrical and Tenting: $11.00 a day or $55.00 Weekly
Seasonal Rate: $375.00

Mt.Carmel Dam is patrolled by the Cavalier County Sheriff's Department, the North Dakota State Highway Department
and the State Game Warden.
Rules and Regulations
1. No littering on the premises. All garbage must be disposed of in proper places provided.
2. Profanity, loud, abusive language will not be tolerated.
3. No drugs or excessive use of alcohol.
4. No excessive running of water or restroom abuse.
5. Fires in designated pits only. No large campfires.
6. All vistors must leave the park by 11:00 pm.
7. After 11:00 pm is quiet time - No loud music or loud talking.
8. Fire works only at ball park, and only from July 1st to July 5th from 10 am to 11 pm except July 1st and 4th until
midnight.
9. There are no lifeguards on duty. Swim at you own risk. No swimming after dark.
10. No destruction of trees or park property.
11. Camping fees are due upon arriving.
12. Seasonal rent is due May 31st - a late fee will be added after July 1st.
13. Observe posted speed limits. No careless driving of vehicles or motorcycles.
14. No glass or bottles allowed on beach.
15. Pets allowed on leases only. Pets not allowed on playgrounds, beach or in restrooms.
16. Fish cleaning in designated area only. No fish cleaning on picnic tables or in camping area.
17. Firearms are strictly prohibited.
18. No unauthorized motor vehicles allowed. This includes 3 and 4 wheelers, golf carts and motor scooters.
19. Park Manager has the right to evict anyone not following park rules.
20. Shut off the air conditioners when not camping.
21. All water vehicles must adhere to speed limit of 15 mph from recreation are dock west to Highway 1.
